We all know that Therapists are mandated reporters of child abuse. Every therapist should have a child abuse reporting phone number handy. This posts provides a National number and most state child abuse reporting phone numbers. After all, there may come a time when you have to make that difficult call and report something. I think we all get apprehensive about calling. And you may not want to lose valuable time looking for a phone number. Make it easier and keep this list handy so you don’t have to look it up.

National Number

I couldn’t find a number for every state and I didn’t want to spend too much time on this because it should be really easy to find out your state or local number. However, if you don’t find your state below, you can always call Childhelp at (800) 422-4453 or remember it as (800) 4-A-CHILD. Childhelp is a non-profit that provides a national child abuse hotline. You can find more information about the hotline at the Childhelp website at https://www.childhelp.org/hotline/.

The Childhelp websites says it serves “the United States, its territories, and Canada, the Hotline is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with professional crisis counselors who, through interpreters, can provide assistance in 170 languages. The hotline offers crisis intervention, information, literature, and referrals to thousands of emergency, social service, and support resources. All calls are confidential.”

State Child Abuse Reporting Phone Numbers

The following is a list of almost all the state child abuse reporting phone numbers. If I couldn’t find a state phone number, I included the URL address for the state website or link to a list of the county numbers.

I have to say I was very frustrated by a lot of state websites. I found at least 10 to 15 state websites with bad links or nothing on the page where child abuse reporting information was supposed to be located. I think it’s terribly irresponsible to change a webpage for child abuse reporting and not have a simple redirect set up. Someone could need the number quickly and it shouldn’t take 10 minutes to find it.
